So I just picked up the first Blackest Night  trade today. The Green Lantern has always been one of my favorite DC characters and heroes and to have the level of writing skills that current writer Geoff Johns has brought to this series is like heaven. The DC year long crossovers have always had a soft spot in my heart but they had also started to become cluster fucks of money being shelled out for titles I didn’t really care about. I am happy to say that if you are even a little bit of a fan of GL’s or the DC universe, this crossover aims to please. The only issue here is that for some reason DC decided to collect all the books by the like titles rather than chronologically to the actual story. So if you are new to the game please check out THIS checklist and hopefully you can piece together which parts of the trades to read in which order. Also Ivan Reis’s art is fucking amazing. With a rainbow cavalcade of lanterns, high octane action, ZOMBIES!!!, and a little Batman to boot, Blackest Night is highly recommended summer reading.
